Vote for the Wolves Fancast Player Of The Season 2018/19

    By David Evans | David Evans, News | 0 comment | 23 April, 2019 | 2

    It’s that time again.

What a fantastic season it has been. Wins against the top 6. Struggling against the bottom 6.

Last minute goals. Stellar performances and an actual cup run (just don’t mention the ending)!

The last 9 months have been special for Wolves in their return to the top flight.

So it’s that time for the annual tradition of the Wolves Fancast Player of the Season Award.

Now in it’s ninth year, who will win the prize some (no-one) has dubbed the ‘Ballon D’or’ of Wolves awards?

The team at Fancast HQ have debated into the early hours over orange squash and Twirls dipped in tea on a shortlist of three for you to vote.

    Here are the nominees…

    Matt Doherty

A former numerous Wolves Fancast player of the season nominee himself, can ‘Doc’ finally bag the award this time?

The defender’s continuous rise within the side has been incredible.

Doherty has been a fantastic wing back and arguably one of the best defenders in the league this season.

One of Matt Doherty’s fantastic attributes has been his attacking play and goal contribution.

Winners against Crystal Palace and a last minute header v Newcastle have earned Wolves vital points in the push for a top 10 finish.

It was even his goals in the early rounds of Wolves’ FA Cup run that kept the side in the competition.

The Irishman may have a few suitors this summer. Is he your Wolves Fancast player of the season 2018/19?

    Raul Jimenez

    The Mexican Sensation.

Signing initially on loan from Benfica last summer, the Mexican international could be on a path of becoming one of Wolves’ best strikers in modern history.

At writing he is currently tied to Steven Fletcher’s record for most goals in a Premier League season and Raul has been a force of nature at the front line for Wolves.

What stands out for Jimenez is not just his goal scoring record, but the way he brings the team together going forward.

His interlinking play with Jota, holding the ball to allow others to join the attack has helped create the ‘identity’ we have seen in Wolves’ shape.

Without him (touch wood), you can argue that it all falls apart.

Goals against Chelsea (on both occasions), Spurs away and a iconic goal against Watford in the FA Cup Semi-Final (don’t try to remember that game) are just some of the standout moments for Raul this season.

He has the Sin Cara mask. Should Raul Jimenez add a cringey Wolves Fancast player of the season award 2018/19 t-shirt to his collection as well?

    Joao Moutinho

    A king among men.

Many could not believe that Wolves had signed one of Portugal’s most capped players last summer.

Then they couldn’t believe that Wolves signed Joao Moutinho from Monaco for a bargain £5 million!

The Portuguese God of War has probably become the best midfielder to grace the shores of Molineux by a long distance.

The way he glides on the pitch with ease, his distribution and eye for a pass is something to behold.

Joao Moutinho does just make it look so easy, and we’re very lucky to have a player of his calibre in an old gold shirt.

Moutinho has been so good this season that many times on the podcast the rule has been ‘who should be man of the match that isn’t Joao Moutinho?’.

His curling effort outside the box against Manchester United at Old Trafford a clear hightlight of Moutinho’s season so far at Molineux.

Does Joao and his beautiful eyes earn your vote for the Wolves Fancast player of the season award 2018/19?

    How to Vote

All you have to do is cast your ballot below.

    ? VOTING CLOSED

Joao Moutinho, Matt Doherty, Molineux, Player of the Season Award, Raul Jimenez, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Wolves, WWFC
