It’s been a long but very exciting season for all Wolves fans, and on Sunday when Wolves face Birmingham in yet another SOLD OUT Molineux, it could finally be the game Wolves finally seal the deal on promotion and the title. Wolves come into the game after another very impressive performance in a 2-0 win over Derby. An early goal from Jota and potentially one of the best ever goals scored in Wolves colours from Ruben Neves. Depending on the results of Cardiff and Fulham over the weekend, Wolves could clinch promotion before kicking the ball on Sunday.
Birmingham come into the game after suffering a 3-1 defeat away at Bristol City, which makes this Midlands derby even more important for both teams. Birmingham still not safe from relegation, and Wolves looking to get the vital points to confirm promotion. Birmingham will be looking to spoil the party for Wolves, and in a derby atmosphere anything is possible.
When the sides have met in the past Wolves have had the better record, and Wolves also won the reverse fixture earlier on in the season 1-0, thanks to a goal from Leo Bonatini.
Nuno loves to not change a winning side, and it would be of no surprise if he were to keep the same side which dominated Derby during midweek. The defensive of Boly, Bennett and Coady have been looking more solid than ever, and it seems all Wolves fans have gained a lot more trust in John Ruddy especially after his performance against Cardiff last weekend. Although, there still may be some questions asked about the front three. With Jota scoring again, making it his 15th goal of the season he may have booked his place in the lineup. But it is very tough to decide out of Costa and Cavaleiro who would start out of the two. Leo Bonatini failed to score once againafter coming on in the second half, extended his run of goalless games.
Ones to watch:
For Wolves, The one to watch in this game would have to be Ruben Neves. After back to back man of the match performances, along with two incredible goals. Including one of the potential best goals you’ll ever see. He has been controlling games with ease recently, and if he’s given the space outside of the box, there would be no shock if he were to once again add to his collection and help push Wolves over the line for promotion.
For Birmingham, the one to watch for this game would have to be Lukas Jutkiewicz. The striker who has recently picked up some form for Birmingham in a very vital point of the season, managing to score in each of his last 3 games, despite only scoring 5 all season.
Whatever the result for Wolves this Sunday, there is no doubt that promotion is certain for Nuno’s men. But for Birmingham, another loss could be prove to be drastic in their hopes of remaining in the championship next season. Due to the possible outcomes, it has made a regular intense derbymatch into an unmissable one. Can Wolves finally put all our nerves to bed? Let’s see what happens!
