Nuno and Wolves have secured their much-expected, but no less wonderful, promotion to the Premier League.
The master behind such majesty has been Nuno Espirito Santo – with the wit and wisdom of a
modern-day philosopher, and the gut-and- thrust passion of a pitbull, the Portuguese
manager has provided plenty of memorable moments both on and off the pitch.
Sam Lambeth lists his top five:
5). The search for Vitamin D
“We need Vitamin D. We need the sun.”
Nuno has something of a way with words that has endeared him even more to the
Wolves faithful.
Calm, assured and intelligent, his pearls of wisdom make Walter
Zenga look like Steve Cotterill.
His greatest gambit, however, came after Wolves’ slight wobble over the winter period, which led to Nuno proclaiming “we need Vitamin D. We need the sun.”
Thousands of drenched Midlanders echoed the sentiment, but it certainly paid off as Wolves returned from Spain to finish the job.
4). The wolf tweet

It was only a matter of time before Nuno’s winning ways had him linked with a slightly
higher role.
With Everton seemingly in freefall after the dismissal of Ronald Koeman, the odds were high in favour of Nuno taking a bite of the Toffees.
However, the Wolves head honcho broke his social media sabbatical to take to Twitter, simply
posting a wolf head.
One small emoji told a million stories, and plenty of fervent Wolves followers retweeted it with gusto.
It also seemed Nuno was only capable of tweeting in such form, with his next post also a series of emoticons to welcome in Chinese New Year.
3). The Cav smile
AKA the face that launched a thousand gifs.
The moment Ivan Cavaleiro netted Wolves third in a 3-o home win against Sheffield united.
It was the moment a wry smirk enveloped Nuno’s hirsute features, a beardy grin that has
been used across social media ever since.
2). The Warnock spat
Despite the initial rumblings Nuno would be an undemonstrative figure in the
technical area, the reality has been anything but.
He has been a breath of fresh air throughout the campaign, with his zealous passion highly infectious.
One person that wasn’t too keen on Nuno’s pitch side antics however was legendary sourpuss Neil
Warnock – the scene of the Cardiff boss churlishly spurning Nuno’s apologies and
telling him, erm, where to go will live long in the memory.
The dinosaurs of the football game – Steve Bruce, Warnock, Tony Pulis – may not have enjoyed Nuno’s celebrations, but the fans did.
1). THAT Bristol City celebration

There have been many unbelievable end-of- match moments this season, but one
that will live long in the memory is the eventual 2-1 victory over then high-flying
Bristol City.
After the dismissal of Danny Batth, three points seemed a million miles
away until Ryan Bennett popped up with an injury-time header.
This clincher resulted in Nuno breaking into a celebration of sheer frenzy, pumping
his fists wildly and roaring with unbridled joy.
It was made even better due to the fact the Wolves gaffer had been sent to the stands, and was carrying out his salacious satisfaction in front of a few notably disgruntled, distinguished Bristol City dignitaries.
You didn’t get this with Paul Lambert.
