    Fancast Advent – 7th December

Already a week into advent?! Behind today’s Fancast Advent door is Jackie McNamara

When McNamara signed for Wolves in 2005, I remember being filled with hope and optimism about Wolves signing a player of his calibre.

Someone who could play in defence and midfield, experience, leadership ability and someone who has played some of the biggest teams in the world; I thought Wolves had pulled off one of the biggest coups in a long time.

However after starting brightly for Wolves in Glen Hoddle’s first full season in charge, the Scot injured his cruciate ligament in September, essentially ending his season.

McNamara went on to make 19 appearances the following season under Mick McCarthy, but with McCarthy looking towards youth rather than experience, he left at the end of the season.

He went on to appear for Aberdeen, Falkirk and Partick Thistle before moving into management.

McNamara co-penned a sit-com after retirement (yes, you read that right) call The Therapy Room.
