With seven players currently out on loan, Richard Hobbs reviews how they are performing at their temporary clubs.
Jack Price
Leyton Orient until January 7th
After Price slipped down the midfield pecking order at Wolves, it was inevitable that he would spend the majority of this season out on loan to continue his development. Following a spell at Yeovil, the bearded youngster moved the Leyton Orient from three months in October. Despite not losing in the first 3 matches he played, Price disappointingly picked up an ankle injury in the O’s 2-0 win over Doncaster Rovers. After making his return from injury on Saturday, I’m sure he’ll be keeping his fingers crossed to stay fit and continue to show his quality in League 1.
Georg Margreitter
Chesterfield until December 11th
After never really catching a glimpse of in the first team, it looked as though Margreitter would be moving permanently to Copenhagen after a season-long loan in Demark last season. When a move to Copenhagen fell through, Chesterfield offered him a chance of make an impact in English football. Having only made three appearances for The Spireites after picking up an injury. A real shame as he appears to have made a strong impression with the management at Chesterfield, but at least he’ll get free pizza for the rest of the season.
Jon Flatt
Wrexham until December 20th
Following Tomasz Kuszak arriving on a short-term contract, Flatt has gone out on a month’s loan to north Wales to gain some experience. Though it seems unlikely that he’ll get much game time, he’ll at least be in safe hands at Wrexham. Former Wolf Michael Oakes is assistant manager/goalkeeping coach down the Racecourse Ground and will no doubt be able to give him insight to being a goalie down Molineux.
Zeli Ismail
Notts County until January 4th
Despite first choice on the right wing last season, Zeli soon lost his place at Wolves to James Henry and with even more competition for the right wing position, Ismail moved to Notts County on loan until January. Scoring four in 13 games for County, he is showing he can cut it at League 1 level. With his skill never truly in question, his main aim must surely be to overcome his niggling injuries to be able to play consistently to get a solid run of form in.
Jake Cassidy
Notts County until January 4th
Another academy graduate at Notts County. Mocked be some sections of supporters, he couldn’t rekindle the form he showed at Tranmere Rovers in 2012 where he scored 11 in 26 games. Finding the net three times in his 10 appearances so far this season for County, Cassidy will be hoping to score a few more over the festive period before his loan ends in January.
Kevin Doyle
Crystal Palace until January 1st
After being cast to the Bomb Squad in the summer, Doyle was surprisingly signed on loan until January by Premier league side Crystal palace. Since moving to Palace, Doyle has seen very little first team action. Only playing 3 times so far this season, Doyle seems set to return to Wolves in January where he’ll most likely team up with Roger Johnson and Kevin Foley in the bomb squad.
Molde until December 31st
The Icelandic David Beckham left Wolves at the end of the January transfer window with the hope he could rediscover his for back in his homeland of Scandinavia. Injuries saw him score three times in 15 games for Molde, who finished top of the Tippeligaen. Siggy looks set to return to Wolves and it looks like this will be his last chance to impress. A high order given what seems like a frosty relationship with Kenny Jackett.
