Wolves extended their unbeaten home run to seven games.
Matt Doherty scored his first Wolves goal since his return to the West Midlands.
Christopher Nkunku scored his first goal for Chelsea in the 96th minute.
Raheem Sterling had a golden opportunity to put the visitors ahead in the first half however Jose Sa done extremely well to deny him.
Chelsea had majority of the possession but nothing to show for it, Wolves also had chances through Hwang Hee-chan in the first half.
Wolves came bursting out of the blocks in the second half with a flurry of chances. Joao Gomes’ effort from outside the box was deflected behind for a corner.
Pablo Sarabia picked out Toti Gomes who was unmarked but Petrovic done well to deny the centre-back.
However Petrovic could not stop Mario Lemina’s effort as he headed the ball into the bottom left corner in the 51st minute from a Sarabia corner.
Chelsea made several substitutions in hope to develop a reaction, this nearly paid off as Nkuku could have made an instant impact but was denied on the line by Toti Gomes. A second chance came for the visitors as Raheem Sterling took a shot which was bravely blocked by Craig Dawson, who injured himself in the process.
Wolves had to substitute Dawson and Uruguayan international Santiago Bueno stepped up for The Old Gold.
As the game entered stoppage time Wolves received the perfectly wrapped present. Hugo Bueno drilled in a cross which Chelsea struggled to clear, substitute Matt Doherty found himself in a perfect position and side footed the ball into the bottom right corner.
In the final moments of the game, Christopher Nkunku done well to nod home a cross from Raheem Sterling. However it was too little, too late for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Going forward for the visitors, they will be back at Stamford Bridge as they face Crystal Palace on December 27th.
For Wolves, O’Neil’s side will travel to the capital again as they face Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium also on December 27th.
