Gomes scored his first goals of the season.
Wolves completed the double over Spurs, the first time since 2009-2010
O’Neil’s team have now beat Spurs on three consecutive occasions.
Wolves were on a hunt for three points following a shock 2-0 defeat at Molineux against Brentford, Tottenham started the game with spells of possession but nothing to show for it. The visitors looked dangerous on the counter attack, as usual.
A huge chance fell to Hwang Hee-Chan following Vicario’s save, however the South Korean couldn’t find the net from close range.
Both teams created chances, Spurs applied pressure through Richarlison and Kulusevski and Wolves had shots through Semedo and Ait-Nouri.
Wolves broke the deadlock just three minutes from half-time, a Pablo Sarabia cross was inch perfect for Joao Gomes who rose highest in the box. His header found the top left corner from close range.
After the break, Postecoglou’s side responded instantly, it took just 43 seconds for Spurs to equalise as Kulusevski breezed past Craig Dawson and placed the ball through Jose Sa’s legs.
The goal flattened Wolves’ tempo, Spurs came close to taking the lead following Kulusevski’s attempt which was tipped round the post.
In the 63rd minute Wolves regained their lead through Joao Gomes. Following a Tottenham corner, Gomes played the ball into Neto who drove the Old Gold up the pitch in a matter of seconds. Neto cut back and squared the ball into Gomes who smashed the ball first time past Vicario.
Wolves almost got a third in a similar fashion, Neto led the counter attack once again however this time he found Bellegarde inside the area but the French attacker’s shot was blocked.
The old gold defended in numbers waiting for the final whistle.
Towards the end of the game Ben Davies had a brilliant chance to bring the scores level, but his headed effort was wide.
Next up for the visitors, Wolves will be at Molineux against 20th place Sheffield United.
Tottenham Hotspur will be against Crystal Palace.
